Renewable Electricity Generation Bill

Clause 16 allows the Department to appoint a monitor for the Contracts for Difference allocation rounds or to require the Utility Regulator or system operator to undertake monitoring functions. The clause specifies how monitoring is to be undertaken and allows the monitor to report their findings in respect of the exercise of the functions of the allocation round. 

The clause allows the Department to give such directions as it considers appropriate to remedy failures in respect of allocation round functions including bringing an allocation round to an end or to re-run all or some part of the allocation round etc..

The clause also allows the Department to make regulations to confer powers on the Utility Regulator to resolve related disputes.
