Learning for Life and Work - Youth Assembly Education Committee Survey

Closes 11 Apr 2025

Opened 30 Mar 2025

Overview

The Youth Assembly’s Education Committee would like to hear from young people aged 11-21 years old on their recent experiences of Learning for Life and Work (LLW) in schools.

LLW includes the following subjects at Key stage 3 (years 8-10): Local and Global Citizenship, Personal Development, Employability and Home Economics.

At Key stage 4 (years 11 and 12) LLW includes: Local and Global Citizenship, Personal Development, and Employability.

The study of LLW is compulsory for all pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 8-12), though pupils do not have to study the GCSE.

This survey will look at the following parts of LLW: Local and Global Citizenship, Personal Development, and Employability.

Why your views matter

Your views are very important to us. Youth Assembly Members are keen to find out how LLW is viewed in schools, what is being taught and how, and if young people feel LLW prepares them for adult life.

Youth Assembly Members will collate the findings from this survey and will share the findings with the Assembly’s Education Committee and relevant Ministers.

The survey will take approx. 10-15 minutes to complete.

We are asking for your age because this survey is for young people with current or recent experience of LLW. We are asking about school type as we’d like to know if there is a difference in how the issues in the survey are tackled in different types of schools.

All survey responses are anonymous.

You can ask an adult to help you complete the survey.

Please do not disclose any information which might identify individuals or schools.
