Age Discrimination (Goods, Facilities and Services) Bill - Call for Evidence

Overview

The Age Discrimination (Goods, Facilities and Services) Bill seeks to prohibit unjustified discrimination, harassment, and victimisation on the ground of age in the provision of goods, facilities and services.

While age discrimination is already prohibited in employment, Northern Ireland currently has no equivalent protection outside the workplace. The Bill aims to address this gap by establishing legal protections against age discrimination in areas such as healthcare, insurance, housing, retail and leisure services, bringing Northern Ireland more closely into line with protections available elsewhere in the UK and Ireland.
